| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of Queen Margrethe II facing right, wearing a pearl necklace and pearl-adorned attire, rendered in high relief within a raised inner circle. The circumferential legend reads 'MARGRETHE II' to the upper left, separated by a small heart device, and 'DANMARKS DRONNING' to the upper right. The date appears at the bottom of the field, flanked by the mint master's initials 'LG' and engraver's initials 'JP' along with the mint mark. The portrait is modelled in a naturalistic style engraved by Mogens Møller. |

| Additional information |
The fourth portrait of Margrethe II on Danish coinage replaced the third effigy introduced in 1993, part of a periodic update cycle the Royal Danish Mint has maintained throughout her reign — the longest of any Danish monarch to date. The concurrent revision to the arms design reflected heraldic adjustments rather than any constitutional change. KM#888 saw only two years of production before further design revision, limiting total mintage figures across both years.
