Additional information

The 2006 issue marks the centenary of Ibsen's death, released the same year Norway staged a nationwide festival — Ibsenjubileet — spanning theatre productions, exhibitions, and academic events across the country. Ibsen had spent the better part of his career in self-imposed exile in Rome, Dresden, and Munich, writing the plays that made him famous from abroad before returning to Christiania in 1891.

The Royal Norwegian Mint struck this as a circulating commemorative, not a proof-only release, meaning genuine wear specimens exist.
