Obverse description Central shield bearing the quartered arms of Saxony — alternating horizontal barry and diagonally-striped fields charged with a rampant lion — surmounted by an ornate ducal crown. The escutcheon is rendered in fine engraving with careful heraldic detail. A circular beaded border frames the design, with the ducal title legend reading continuously around the periphery in Latin script.
