Obverse description Draped bust of Elector Charles Theodore facing right, depicted with an elaborate curled wig rendered in fine relief, wearing a lace cravat. The effigy is positioned centrally within a beaded border, with the mintmaster's initials 'A·S' visible below the truncation. The surrounding Latin legend reads CAR. THEODOR. D.G. C.P.R.S.R.I.A.T.& EL., abbreviating the Elector's full titles as Count Palatine of the Rhine, Arch-Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire. The portrait is executed in the refined Baroque court style typical of mid-eighteenth-century German coinage.
