Brandenburg-Bayreuth came to Alexander's rule in 1769 under circumstances that were never quite settled — the margraviate had been administratively entangled with Ansbach for decades, and the two territories shared a dynasty without ever fully merging their minting operations. This 20 Kreuzer type was struck across just three years, bracketing the final phase of Alexander's rule before the territory passed, ultimately, to Prussia in 1791 following his abdication. The .589 fine silver content reflects the debased standard creeping through smaller German states in this period, a consequence of chronic fiscal pressure rather than any single monetary reform.
