Obverse description Central shield bearing the Bernese bear passant, set within an ornate oval cartouche with scrollwork and surmounted by a decorative crown-like shell or floral ornament at top. The bear is depicted walking left with a diagonally divided field. The circular legend MONETA·REIPUB:BERNENSIS runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination CR20 appears prominently in the lower field beneath the shield. The coin's rim is decorated with a fine milled border of denticles.

Reverse description A large ornate Gothic letter B dominates the central field, flanked symmetrically by two palm or laurel branches curving outward from a common base and tied at the bottom. Above the B, a large ornamental crown is depicted in high relief. The circular legend DOMINUS * PROVIDEBIT is distributed around the upper periphery, and the date 1716 appears in the lower exergual area between the branch stems, flanked by decorative stops. The denticled milled border frames the entire design.
