Obverse description Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed with wings spread, each head crowned with a small imperial crown, surmounted by a large central imperial crown with cross finial. The eagle's breast bears a central shield depicting St. George on horseback slaying a dragon. Six smaller heraldic shields are arranged across the wings, depicting the arms of various Russian territories. The eagle's left talon clasps a sceptre and the right talon holds an orb. The mint engraver's initials П А appear in the lower field on either side of the eagle's tail feathers. The coin's border is formed by a continuous raised dentilated rim.
