| Reverse description | The reverse presents a bimetallic composition centred on the gold insert, which depicts an eagle with wings spread wide standing atop a dolphin — a celebrated image adapted from ancient Olbian coinage — with the Greek legend ΟΛΒΙΟ inscribed in the lower portion of the gold disc. The silver ring surrounding the gold centre is richly decorated with relief scenes of ancient Greek figures: two draped deities or mythological personages flank the central disc on either side, separated by ornamental shell and scroll motifs in the upper field. The Cyrillic legend ОЛЬВІЯ arches prominently across the top of the silver ring, identifying the ancient Greek colony of Olbia on the northern Black Sea coast. |
