Austrian municipal notgeld of this type was produced in enormous quantities during 1920–1921, when chronic small-coin shortages forced hundreds of towns to print their own emergency currency. Rohrbach's series is notable for involving L. Haase as designer — a name associated with several artistically considered Oberösterreich issues rather than the purely utilitarian output of many rural communes.
The two signatories, Schreiber and Reumüller, were municipal officials authorizing a scrip that would have circulated only within the local economy and been redeemed — or more often simply not redeemed — once the national coinage supply stabilized.
