Pfarrkirchen bei Bad Hall is a small parish community in Upper Austria, and this 20 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld emergency — the acute small-change shortage that followed Austria's collapse after 1918. With metal coinage hoarded or simply absent, hundreds of Austrian municipalities turned to their local printers to fill the gap. Druckerei Prietzel in nearby Steyr was a logical choice for communities in the Traun valley region.
Authentication relied entirely on the applied municipal stamp — no serial numbers, no watermark.
