A small heraldic shield vignette with stylised wheat sheaves is centered between the denomination words, set against a faint circular guilloche underprint. Austrian Notgeld of this type was issued by an extraordinary range of local authorities in 1920 — municipalities, savings banks, market towns, even individual parishes — filling the vacuum left by the chronic small-coin shortage that followed the collapse of the Habsburg economy. Pfarrgemeinde Kilb, a small parish in Lower Austria, was among the ecclesiastical issuers, an unusual category even within the already anarchic Notgeld landscape of the period. Druck Radinger in Mariazell handled the printing, a regional press more commonly associated with pilgrimage-town ephemera than emergency currency.
