Altlengbach is a small market town in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities during the early 1920s, it issued Notgeld to plug the hole left by a chronic shortage of metallic coinage in postwar Austria. The Heller denominations were the workhorses of this emergency issue — too small to be of serious monetary consequence, but essential for everyday retail transactions that larger denominations couldn't handle.

Eduard Sieger was a Vienna-based printer responsible for a substantial volume of municipal Notgeld across Lower Austria in this period. The JPR0033c designation within the Jaksc catalog indicates this is one of several variants within the Altlengbach series.
