Additional information

The 1924 monetary reform under Władysław Grabski replaced the deeply devalued Polish marka with the new złoty at a rate of 1,800,000 to one. The mint conducted extensive trial strikes across multiple compositions and denominations while finalizing the new coinage — this nickel piece represents one such test, rejected in favor of other alloys before production coinage was committed to zinc and iron alloys for the smaller denominations.

Pattern and trial material from this reform series rarely entered any documented distribution channel, surviving almost exclusively in institutional collections or through the mint's own records.
