The Democratic Republic of Congo has operated one of the most prolific programs of collector-targeted silver issues in the world since the early 2000s, licensing its sovereign coinage authority to European distributors — primarily the Coin Invest Trust in Liechtenstein — who design and market the pieces with minimal direct involvement from Kinshasa. This coin is a product of that arrangement, not of any domestic monetary or commemorative agenda.
The plesiosaurus, despite its marine profile, was not a dinosaur — a distinction the numismatic market rarely bothers to make.
