The Democratic Republic of the Congo has issued collector silver under its own authority since the late 1990s, but produces virtually none of this coinage domestically — nearly all of it is struck by European mints, primarily in Belgium and Austria, for the international numismatic market. The Peregrine falcon has no particular cultural or ecological significance to the DRC; its appearance here reflects the global wildlife coin market rather than any national symbolism.
KM#401.1 suggests a parent type with at least one variant, likely differentiated by colorization treatment or finish.
