Obverse description Laureate head of Napoleon I facing left, rendered in high relief with classically styled drapery at the truncation. The engraver's signature DROZ F appears incuse on the neck truncation. The peripheral legend NAPOLEON EMPEREUR. runs along the collar in Roman capitals, punctuated by a stop. The overall style reflects the neoclassical aesthetic championed by Droz and Tiolier during the First Empire.
