Obverse description Central design features a large interlaced six-pointed star (Seal of Solomon) set within an elaborate arabesque floral field, with the Hijri date 1347 inscribed in Eastern Arabic numerals at the centre of the star. The legend EMPIRE CHERIFIEN arcs along the upper periphery in Latin characters, while Arabic inscriptions in ornate Maghrebi script occupy the lower and lateral fields. The entire design is encircled by a finely toothed border, reflecting the intricate decorative tradition of Moroccan coinage of the French Protectorate period.
