Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Leopold II facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic heavy, coarsely engraved beard. The king's portrait, designed and signed by engraver Léopold Wiener, is surrounded by the French-language royal legend along the upper periphery. The date of issue appears in the lower field, with the engraver's initials 'L W' incuse below the truncation. A beaded border frames the entire obverse design.
