Swissmint produces trial strikes — known in Swiss numismatic literature as Richtpreisproben — to establish official pricing benchmarks for forthcoming commemorative issues, distributing them to dealers and philatelic agents rather than the general public. These pieces are functionally identical to the issued coin in composition and dimensions but exist outside the regular mintage figures entirely. The reference Richt Pr2#340 places this squarely in that category.
