Obverse description Saint Gallus (Gall) seated facing, nimbus behind his head, holding a crosier in his left hand while extending his right hand to offer food to a small bear standing at his side. The composition references the hagiographic legend of the saint's encounter with a bear in the Swiss wilderness. The legend HELVETIA and the date 2002 appear in the field, accompanied by the Latinised inscription S·GALLVS, the denomination 20 FR, and the mint mark B.

Reverse description A detailed three-quarter perspective view of the Abbey of Saint Gall (Kloster St. Gallen), rendered in fine relief against a partially frosted field evoking a moonlit sky. The Baroque twin-towered cathedral façade dominates the centre, with flanking conventual buildings visible at left and right. The legend KLOSTER ST. GALLEN curves along the upper periphery, and the engraver's initials H.P.v.Ah appear in the lower right field.
