| Reverse description | Central device features a stylised five-clawed imperial dragon rendered in low relief, facing forward with head raised and body coiled, surrounded by decorative flame and cloud scrolls in the typical small-dragon style characteristic of Fukien provincial issues. The dragon is enclosed within an inner beaded circle. The surrounding legend, separated by small cross or floral stops, reads FOO-KIEN PROVINCE along the upper arc and 1 MACE AND 4.4 CANDAREENS along the lower arc, all in Latin script. The entire design is contained within an outer beaded border, with the overall engraving exhibiting the compact, somewhat archaistic style associated with the Fuzhou Mint's late Qing output. |
