Austria's "Silver Niobium" collector series has run since 2003, but the Supernova issue steps outside that bimetallic format entirely. The Austrian Mint has leaned heavily into astrophysics themes across its science-focused issues, and a supernova is a reasonable subject — these stellar explosions are responsible for forging and dispersing most of the heavy elements present in coin metal itself, silver included.
