| Obverse description | Central to the obverse is the celebrated Semeuse (Sower) effigy, depicted striding purposefully to the left while scattering seeds, rendered in high relief against a frosted rectangular cartouche. The figure wears a flowing gown and carries a seed bag over her shoulder, her hair styled with a sprig, consistent with Oscar Roty's original design tradition. Diagonal lines suggesting rays of light emanate behind the figure within the cartouche. Flanking the central cartouche on either side are horizontal milled bands and a ring of twelve European stars arranged along the coin's periphery. The date is split across the lower field, with '20' to the left and '02' to the right of the cartouche, accompanied by the monogram 'RF' (République Française) inscribed within the cartouche. |
