| Obverse description | Two uniformed figures stand side by side before a table laden with navigational and scientific instruments, including a terrestrial globe on a turned stand, a sextant, charts, and a protractor. The figure at left, Archduke Ferdinand Max, is depicted in civilian dress with decorations, while the figure at right, Bernhard von Wüllerstorf-Urbair, wears a naval officer's uniform with epaulettes. The legend arcs around the upper field, naming both protagonists, and the engraver's signature WÄHNER appears in the lower right of the field. The composition is rendered in a detailed, high-relief neoclassical style. |
