Elly Heuss-Knapp co-founded the Müttergenesungswerk in 1950, a welfare organization providing recuperative care for mothers — a cause she pursued relentlessly from the chancellery while her husband Theodor served as West Germany's first Federal President. She died in office in 1952, still fundraising. This issue marks the 75th anniversary of that foundation, placing it in a German commemorative series honoring women whose contributions operated largely outside formal political structures.
