Part of Austria's long-running "Natural History Museum Vienna" series, this issue was produced in close collaboration with the museum's paleontology department — an unusual arrangement that gave curators direct input over scientific accuracy rather than leaving iconographic decisions solely to mint engravers. The Natural History Museum holds one of Europe's most significant Mesozoic fossil collections, much of it assembled during the Habsburg imperial period when Austrian expeditions were active across the Tethys seabed formations that now run through Alpine territory.
