| Reverse description | The reverse presents a stylised silhouette of a human head in left profile, its interior filled with a richly detailed assemblage of Åland's flora and fauna: a moose strides centrally, flanked by a bear at lower left, birds in flight above, a fish to the right, aquatic plants, and coniferous foliage at the base, all rendered in high relief against the mirror-polished field. To the right of the head profile, the denomination 20 € is inscribed in large numerals, with the Lithuanian Mint monogram LMK below. The legend SUOMI 2021 FINLAND arcs along the upper border in incuse lettering. |

| Additional information |
Finland granted Åland its autonomous status in 1920 following a League of Nations ruling that settled a bitter dispute between Finland and Sweden — both of whom claimed the archipelago after Russian imperial authority collapsed. The islands remain demilitarized under international treaty to this day, a condition that has held continuously through two world wars and the Cold War.
The centenary of that 1921 autonomy statute is what prompted this issue.
