Reverse description The reverse presents a right-facing bust portrait of Father Damien De Veuster, depicted wearing a wide-brimmed hat and clerical attire, his bearded visage rendered with fine engraved detail. Behind the portrait, a panoramic vignette extends across the field, depicting architectural scenes associated with Tremelo, his Belgian birthplace, on the left, and the Molokai settlement in Hawaii on the right, including palm trees and a church building. The name 'DAMIANVS' is inscribed in large Latinised characters across the upper field, flanked by the place names 'TREMELO' to the left and 'MOLOKAI' to the right, separated by raised dot stops. The date of his canonisation, '11-X-2009', is inscribed along the lower exergual area, commemorating the occasion of his beatification being elevated to sainthood. The composition reflects a dignified commemorative style befitting a coin issued in honour of a canonised saint.
