| Additional information |
The torch relay for the Paris 2024 Games took an unusually ambitious route — passing through all five French overseas territories before reaching the mainland, a logistical and symbolic undertaking without direct precedent in Olympic history. Monnaie de Paris issued several collector pieces timed to the relay's progression, this being among the silver issues in that series.
The .900 fineness is a deliberate callback to the alloy standard the Paris mint used extensively through the nineteenth century, rather than the more common .925 now standard for most European commemoratives.
