| Additional information |
Le Printemps de Bourges, the annual French popular music festival founded in 1977, issued its own local currency scrip for on-site transactions — a practice that blurred the line between commemorative medal and functional festival token. The 1996 silver piece is one of the more substantial incarnations of this series, unusual among festival issues for its precious metal content rather than the aluminum or cupro-nickel more commonly used for ephemeral event coinage.
