| Obverse description | Draped bust of Ľudovít Štúr, the Slovak linguist and national revivalist, facing slightly left, rendered in high relief at center within an inner circle. A stylized calligraphic rendering of his surname arcs across the right field. The date 2003 appears to the left of the portrait along the inner circle border. The outer legend reads PRUEBA TRIAL ESSAI PROBE around the upper periphery, separated by cross ornaments, with SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA along the lower periphery; the mintmaster initials G VL appear within the field. |

| Reverse description | Large denomination numeral 20 dominates the left and center of the field, rendered in the standard euro cent style with diagonal line engraving in the background. To the right, a fully armored equestrian figure — identified as the historic Knight of Svätý Jur — is depicted in right-facing profile, seated upon a walking horse with detailed caparisons. Twelve five-pointed stars border the outer rim in the manner of EU coinage. The word SPECIMEN appears within an oval cartouche at the base of the numeral, replacing the euro cent symbol of the regular issue. |
