Additional information

France adopted the "second map" reverse design in 2007 as part of a eurozone-wide update replacing the original stylized EU map — which had excluded Cyprus and Malta — with a geographically accurate rendering of the full continent following the 2004 and 2007 EU enlargements. The transition was staggered across member states over several years, making early 2007-dated French examples from the first production runs modestly more interesting to date collectors than later issues.
