Madeira's euro-cent issues of 2005 were produced for collector sets rather than circulation — the archipelago, as an autonomous region of Portugal, has no independent monetary authority and issues no coins for general use. These sets were struck by the Portuguese Mint (Imprensa Nacional–Casa da Moeda) specifically for the collector market, which explains the consistently pristine condition in which they appear.
