| Obverse description | The obverse features a view of the Belvedere Palace in Vienna, a celebrated Baroque architectural masterpiece and the site where the Austrian State Treaty was signed on 15 May 1955, restoring Austrian sovereignty. The palace is rendered in fine detail at the centre of the field, flanked by heraldic hatchings representing the colours of the Austrian national flag. The denomination 20 EURO CENT arcs around the upper and lower periphery, and the date appears within the design. Twelve stars of the European Union encircle the composition, linking the national motif to the broader European community. |
