Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Pope Benedict XVI wearing a camauro and ornate vestments, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The papal legend BENEDICTVS XVI arcs along the upper left periphery, with PONT. MAX. continuing to the upper right. The pontifical year AN. VII MMXI is inscribed along the lower arc. The engravers' signatures D. LONGO and U. PERNAZZA INC. appear in small lettering beneath the truncation.
