| Reverse description | The reverse features an intricate geometric and floral decorative pattern inspired by traditional Portuguese azulejo tilework and Manueline ornamental motifs. A six-petalled rosette occupies the central medallion, surrounded by concentric bands of stylised scrollwork and interlacing foliate designs radiating outward toward the rim. Sixteen segmented panels divide the outer zone, each adorned with elegant curvilinear arabesques. A small Order of Christ cross appears within one of the outer panels to the right. The overall design is executed in low relief with fine detail, reflecting the artistic heritage of Portugal. |
