Obverse description The obverse features the national coat of arms of Liberia centrally positioned in the field, depicting a shield bearing a sailing ship at sea above a plough and a dove in flight, flanked by palm trees and a rising sun, with a scroll inscribed REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA below the shield. The motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE appears on a ribbon across the top of the arms.
