Reverse description A front-facing draped bust of Stand Watie, the Cherokee Confederate general, occupies the central field, rendered with long hair and period civilian attire. Behind the portrait, stylized diagonal lines representing a furled Confederate battle flag are visible, with a star motif discernible in the upper right portion of the field. The upper legend 'CIVIL WAR - STAND WATIE' arcs along the rim, flanked by his life dates '1806 - 1871' continuing to the right. The denomination '$20' appears in the lower exergue. The design is executed in proof finish with frosted relief against mirrored fields.
