Obverse description Full-length allegorical figure of Liberty striding forward in high relief, facing slightly left, draped in flowing robes with wind-blown hair. She holds aloft a lighted torch in her raised right hand and an olive branch in her extended left hand, symbolizing peace and enlightenment. Radiating sun rays emanate from behind the figure, with a depiction of the United States Capitol building visible in the lower left field. Forty-six six-pointed stars ring the inner border. The legend LIBERTY arcs across the upper field, and the date appears in the lower right field, with the mint mark positioned just above the date on branch-mint issues.
