| Obverse description | Bilingual note with 'PROVINCE DE QUEBEC' across the top and the bank name in large intaglio lettering along the central axis; the central vignette presents an allegorical seated female figure at a harbour scene with sailing vessels, flanked left by a vignette of a dog resting beside a treasure chest and right by a profile portrait of Queen Victoria. Denomination counters reading '20' appear at each upper corner, with the bilingual promise-to-pay clause 'TWENTY DOLLARS / VINGT PIASTRES' rendered in both English and French, dated '1er September 1880' and bearing printed signature lines for CAISSIER and PRESIDENT.
