| Obverse description | The arms of the Republic of Liberia occupy the central field, depicting a shield bearing a sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun, with a dove in flight above and a plow and shovel in the foreground. The shield is surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The date 2003 is divided to either side of the arms, with '20' to the left and '03' to the right. The outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, and a second inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA appears on a ribbon below the shield near the lower rim. |
