Additional information

Liberia's commemorative program of the early 2000s was almost entirely export-driven — produced by private minting houses in Europe and marketed to foreign collectors with no meaningful circulation in Liberia itself. This piece is part of a sprawling series issued under licensing arrangements that flooded the market between roughly 1999 and 2006, most struck by the Pobjoy Mint or B.H. Mayer's depending on the contract year.

The Korean War armistice was signed July 27, 1953, ending three years of fighting that left roughly 36,000 Americans and an estimated 3 million total casualties dead.
