Additional information

Issued in 2018 to mark the centenary of the First World War's final year, this coin draws on Canada's outsized contribution to the Allied effort — a nation of roughly eight million people that put over 600,000 men in uniform. The obverse carries George V's effigy despite his death in 1936, a deliberate anachronism tying the commemorative to the wartime monarch under whose authority Canadian forces served.

The .9999 fine silver specification places it among the RCM's bullion-adjacent commemorative issues rather than its standard collector series, which used .925 through most of the twentieth century.
