Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth and final official effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, depicting a right-facing draped bust of the Queen at approximately 77 years of age, uncrowned, wearing a necklace and earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II and D·G·REGINA frames the effigy, accompanied by the issuer CANADA and the date 2023. A commemorative double-date inscription reading 1952 and 2022 appears in the field, separated by four pearls arranged horizontally, symbolising the four successive royal effigies that appeared on Canadian coinage throughout the reign of Elizabeth II. The initials SB of the engraver Susanna Blunt appear below the bust truncation.
