| Obverse description | Central device consists of the national coat of arms of Liberia, depicting a sailing ship on the sea before a rising sun, with a palm tree and a plough and spade in the foreground, all enclosed within a wreath. A ribbon scroll above the shield bears the motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE, and a further legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA appears on a scroll below the shield. The circumferential legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper rim in large raised letters, with the date 2001 split either side of the central device, flanked by a beaded inner border. |
