Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in a rich orange-red intaglio, centered on a large circular medallion enclosing the Great Seal of the United States — an eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows — surrounded by the legend 'TWENTY DOLLARS' within the ring. Elaborate acanthus-leaf and floral scrollwork guilloche panels flank the medallion on both sides, each bearing the numeral '20' in large block figures. The inscriptions 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' curve along the top on a ribbon, with 'TWENTY' in rectangular cartouches at lower left and right, and 'GOLD CERTIFICATE' lettered across the bottom center.
