Additional information

Liberia's early 2000s locomotive series exploited a legal loophole allowing the republic to issue commemorative coinage with essentially no circulation obligation — these pieces were minted wholesale for the collector market, primarily through European dealerships. The Santa Fe Railway's F7 diesel, built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division between 1949 and 1953, hauled the Super Chief between Chicago and Los Angeles until Amtrak absorbed the route in 1971.

Over 3,800 F7 units were delivered across all buyers, making it one of EMD's most successful production runs of the postwar decade.
