| Obverse description | The central field bears the arms of the Republic of Liberia: a heraldic shield depicting a sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun, flanked by decorative scrollwork and a dove in flight above. A ribbon banner across the top of the shield bears the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE'. The legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' arcs along the upper periphery, with the date '2004' divided across the lower field on either side of the shield. A second inscription 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' appears on a scroll at the base of the design, and the entire composition is bordered by a reeded inner ring. |
