| Obverse description | The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by engraver Susan Taylor, depicting the monarch in right-facing portrait at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The portrait is rendered in a refined, naturalistic style consistent with the Machin-derived tradition adapted for Canadian coinage.
