| Reverse description | The reverse features a full-color reproduction of the celebrated Byzantine icon 'The Virgin of Vladimir' (Vladimirskaya), depicting the Virgin Mary in a dark maphorion tenderly holding the Christ Child, whose cheek rests against hers in the Eleusa (Tenderness) iconographic type. The color insert is framed by a rectangular border set with inlaid baguette-cut crystal stones in a gold-toned surround, evoking the ornate oklads of traditional Russian icons. Flanking the central image, the field is elaborately engraved with architectural and angelic motifs in low relief.
